Cancer
Cancer is a life threatening disease that affects millions of South Africans. It caused by abnormal cells that divide without control. These cells are able to invade other tissues if not stopped. This causes the disease to spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system or the blood stream. There are more than 200 different types of cancer. Over 40% of all cancers are preventable. Even with late stage cancer, the suffering of patients can be relieved with good painkilling care. Cancer symptoms vary widely based on the type of cancer. Cancer treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
