Home schooling
In some cases, parents may feel that home schooling is the best option for their children. This is usually the case for parents with specific religious beliefs or who have children with disabilities. Parents who wish to home school their children need to apply for a special permit from the Department of Education to do so. They then have to make sure that their children are registered as independent candidates for when they have to take their school-leaving examinations at the end of either grade nine or grade twelve.
If you decide on home schooling, be sure that you are equipped to see it through to the end. It is not an easy option. There are a number of specialist schools for people of different religions or children with disabilities, and you may find that sending your children to institutions such as these would be a better option for both you and your children.
