Zandile Msutwana

Zandile Msutwana is best known for her leading role as Akua Yenana on the SABC1 drama series Society which has been on air since 2007. Msutwana grew up first in King William's Town before moving to Cape Town and attending Green Point Secondary School.

It was here that her acting talent was first noted. Starting with the lead role in Sarifina She then enrolled for Performer's Diploma in Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town and that is where she was cast in plays such as The Suit, King Lear, On the Brink, and earned a part as a student on the youth soap, Backstage.

She also had various roles in Madiba Magic at the Baxter Theatre, Cape Town, the role of Thando Sibanda in Nguni, A Love Story at The Kalk Bay Theatre and a puppeteer in the innovative presentation of Tall Horse directed by Marthinus Basson at The Baxter Theatre Cape Town followed by Pretoria's State Theatre and the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg.

In 2008 she guest starred in an episode of the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com playing the role of Dudu Langa, who becomes a suspect in her mother's death. She has also appeared in White Wedding as the lead actress

Msutwana becomes defensive when asked about her love life. She will go as far to admit that she is seeing someone but refuses to name him.

But she will gladly speak about Valentine's Day. The best gift she received was a tennis racket from her father who used to force her to practice. She jokes now that she could have been South Africa's Serena Williams.

She does admit that when it comes to buying presents she generally messes up slightly and advises people to think about what present would be most appreciated before going to buy it.
