Premier League Soccer Clubs
There are two Premier League Soccer clubs in the Western Cape. These clubs are Santos Soccer Club also known as the "Peoples Team", and Ajax Cape Town, “The Urban Warriors”. Santos soccer club uses the Athlone Stadium as their home ground. While Ajax Cape Town plays their home games at Newland Rugby Stadium. Both teams are well supported and a derby match creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Ajax Cape Town, “The Urban Warriors”, was formed as a result of the 1999 amalgamation of Seven Stars and the Cape Town Spurs.
