Earth Hour 2010
Earth Hour is an annual event that is organised by the World Wildlife Fund. It takes place on the last Saturday of March. The organisers of Earth Hour ask households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour. The hope is that by doing this, awareness to climate change would be raised.
Earth Hour was first held in Sydney, Australia in 2007. 2.2 million Residents switched off their lights. Since then it has spread across the world. Cape Town has participated in the 2008 and 2009 event. To show you care about the environment turn off your lights and do not use any electricity for one hour on March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
