Why do people go to movies?  What does it give them?

People watch movies mainly for entertainment, and less often for enlightenment and even education. Many of us watch movies to escape from the humdrum of our lives for a few hours. What movies give to people is the thrill of experiencing new worlds and different lifestyles.
