Winter School

Winter School is meant to further enhance a learner's experience. The focus is generally on subjects such as English, Mathematics, Physical Science, and Accounting. The reason for these subjects being the core curriculum is that learners often have difficulties with them and they are often not covered adequately at mainstream township schools. For each subject the learners are provided with extensive, interactive learning materials.

Winter School runs for 5 days during the July vacation. Learners are transported to the campus each day by bus and are provided with a light lunch. The event is held in central Cape Town at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), which offers its campus facilities free of charge.

Apart from providing extra academic support, the Winter School also gives learners a taste of what it would be like to study at a higher education institution. It motivates them to strive for success in the fast approaching final examination and inspires them to aim for further study.

A further attraction at Winter School is a Careers Exhibition at which learners are able to discuss career options and plan for their future.
