- HIV/AIDS services
There are a wide range of organisations offering support and services to people whose lives are impacted by the AIDS epidemic. These range from government to NGOs, community organisations, religious organisations etc. The services offered also vary widely. The list we provide below is not intended to be exhaustive. It is just intended to point you to those services we know are reputable. These places will lead you to other services as well.
City Of Cape Town Clinic Services for HIV/AIDS:
Clinics provide the following services for HIV: -
Freely available condoms to minimise the spread of HIV.
Counselling and testing for HIV.
Treatment of associated (opportunistic) infections and monitoring of clients suffering from HIV infection (non hospital care).
Prevention of spread of HIV from HIV positive mothers to their babies (Co-ordinated by Provincial Administration of the Western Cape). This is currently being rolled out in Cape Town and all relevant public sector facilities should have this service soon.

The Department of Health has its own website, with useflu information on government health services.
4. The National Government's HIV and AIDS campaign (commissioned by the Department of Health) is called "Khomanani".
4. AIDS Helpline
The Department of Health together with Life Line operates a free helpline where you can get advice, counselling and information. Assistance is provided over the phone by trained lay-counsellors. The number is 0800 012 322. You can also directly phone any Life Line service in your province. (Life Line itself has a 24-hour crisis line which can be reached at 0861 322 322).

6. NAPWA
NAPWA is the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS. NAPWA is a national organization that co-ordinates the needs and resources of all people living with HIV/AIDS. Its membership is open to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Napwa's major purpose is to organize, mobilize and empower people living with HIV/AIDS and to represent their interests by providing care and support.
