Nutrition for people living with HIV/AIDS

Good nutrition means eating foods that provide the body with all the nutrients that are essential. Good nutrition plays a major role to the wellness of a person living with HIV/AIDS at all stages of the disease. People with HIV/AIDS can live for ten years or more if they maintain good nutrition.

Poor nutrition leads to a weakened immune system. A weak immune system reduces the capability of the body to fight infections. Poor nutrition also leads to a reduced ability of the body to cope with the medicines that a person with HIV/AIDS has to take.

A healthy nutritional diet can contribute to maintaining health, and even boosting the immune system.
