Depression (from the SWC)

There are a number of people wandering around right now filled with a certain malaise (a type of sad French mayonnaise). The reason for this glumness and this attitude could be that our boys in yellow ? Bafana Bafana ? never made it through the group stages. We drew one game, lost another, and then won our final game.

It was not the best a host country has done in the tournament. However lest we forget we went in as an inexperienced team, who was ranked as the second lowest in the tournament and we beat France, who were World Champions in 1998. We beat them, we held our own against Mexico and made Uruguay sweat.

What do we do now that our national team is no longer in the tournament? Well, it's fairly simple what we must do. Choose another team, any one of the teams that made it past the group stages. Paint your face in the colours of that country and support them as you supported Bafana Bafana.

If they don't make it to the final rounds, choose another team. Keep on doing this till the final. Why should you do this? Right now we are host to the World?s greatest sporting event and so far we have blown the world away. We built spectacular stadiums, provided amazing entertainment and thrown the party of this new millennium. We must not stop now!

We need to push forward and make sure that the international community never forgets this event nor does it ever doubt the ability or willpower when it comes to Africa and the hosting of an international event.
