Drive Safely from your holiday destination
About 1050 people were killed while more than 280,000 drivers have been fined for speeding on South African roads since the beginning of December holidays, the Department of Transport said. Preliminary reports also showed that of the 1050 people killed, an estimated 654 were of car crashes, 218 were drivers, 327 passengers and 295 pedestrians.
Currently, the police are making plans to deal with all forms of reckless driving and suspected drunken driving cases. If found driving under the influence of alcohol, you will have sober up and appear in court before being given the option of paying a fine.
Things to remember about driving safely:
- Fasten your seatbelt in the front and the back of the car.
- Reduce your speed.
- Be vigilant at all times. Watch other drivers and pedestrians.
- Don't drink and drive
