SA Library Week 2011
The City of Cape Town's public libraries will be celebrating South African Library Week from 19 to 25 March 2011.
This event is celebrated annually to highlight the role that libraries play in communities. It also presents an opportunity for libraries to market themselves and their services.
This year the theme, "Read in your language @ your library" and the provincial theme of ?Be practical and creative @ your library?. The latter theme is developed by the Western Cape Provincial Library Services (to which the City of Cape Town's libraries are affiliated) while the national theme is determined by the Library & Information Association of SA (LIASA).
As part of Library Week, public libraries will also hold a Fine Free Week promotion. All library materials returned late during Library Week will be exempt from fines. Unfortunately, previously accrued fines will still be payable.
