SA Library Week 2010
The City of Cape Town's public libraries will be celebrating South African Library Week from 20 to 27 March 2010.
This event is celebrated annually to highlight the role that libraries play in communities. It also presents an opportunity for libraries to market themselves and their services.
This year the theme, "Reading changes lives" (chosen by the Library Professional Association, LIASA) links to the 2010 FIFA World Cup via its sub-theme of "Read the game - score @ your library" (chosen by the Provincial Library Services). There will be various programmes to celebrate these themes. Visit your nearest library for details.
As part of Library Week, public libraries will also hold a Fine Free Week promotion. All library materials returned late during Library Week will be exempt from fines. Unfortunately, previously accrued fines will still be payable.
