Library Rules
1. Change of address
A borrower shall show proof of the new address at the library within 7 days of such change.
2. Overdue material
A fine of R1 per week or part of a week is payable on each overdue item for the first 2 weeks.
The fine on overdue videos is R3, 00 per day and an additional fee of R2, 00 will be charged if the videos are not rewinded.The fine for material which is more than 8 weeks overdue is R10, 00 per item and the fine for videos outstanding more than 5 days is R15, 00.
When a borrower owes R5,00 borrowing privileges will be suspended until the amount has been paid. If you cannot find an overdue item, it is advisable to pay for it so that the fine does not accumulate. The price of the item will be refunded should you find it and return it to us.
3. Damage/ Loss/ Theft of library material
(a) You are responsible for all material borrowed on your card. The loss/ theft of your membership card must be reported immediately so that steps can be taken to prevent unauthorized use of your card.
(b) Please check all material before you borrow it and report any damage to the library staff.
(c) Damaged and lost material must be paid for in full. Exposure to water, extreme heat and fire, mutilation by animals, defacement or removal of protective coverings of library material are examples of damage.
(d) All material you wish to borrow must be issued by the library staff at the counter. The library has a theft detection system which is activated where materials are removed from the library without being issued at the counter.
4. Conduct
No person shall:
(a) Behave in a way that may be offensive or disruptive to other visitors to the library.
(b) Leave young children unattended in the library, or allow children under his/ her supervision to create a disturbance in the library.
