Volunteer Work
Volunteer work is any type of service that is done free of charge. Volunteer work can be informal, like cleaning your elderly neighbour's house. Volunteer work can also be formal such as volunteering for nonprofit organisations, churches, schools, destitute shelters, youth organizations, and elderly centers.
People choose to volunteer for a different of reasons. Some volunteer to promote a cause they feel strongly about, such as caring for abandoned children or HIV/AIDS orphans. Other people choose volunteerism as a way to attract positive attention from the public or to advance their career or public image. Whatever the motivation behind it, volunteerism is playing a significant role in advancing and improving society.
Volunteer work can help volunteers to get desired jobs; when organizations get funding for staff, they may turn first to their volunteers for paying positions. Volunteer work is much better when it is connected to career fields.
