The SmartCape team has created a local business search engine for local businesses and clients. The primary purpose of the Directory is to promote local businesses by allowing business owners to register their services on an online database. Clients with a need for these services can conduct a search, choose a service provider and engage with them to do the necessary work.

This allows entrepreneurs to become better known in their own communities and allows clients to support local businesses more easily.  You can find the business name, website, location and contact information of businesses anywhere in Cape Town.

Steps to register your business

(Terms and Conditions apply)

• You need to be a registered Smartcape user
• How to register for SmartCape:
• Go to your nearest public library to register for library membership if not registered yet.
• Fill in the form that is provided by the librarian.
• Have a letter of residence
• Have telephone numbers for two people with whom you are not living.  These act as references for your registration.
• Provide your Identity Document/ Passport when registering.
• Log-in to Smartcape using your Username and your Password. N.B. Remember to keep your user name and password for future use.
• Click on Register your Business (left-hand sub-menu) 
  • Add your business details on the form provided. As a service provider, you will need to fill in all your business details such as business name, business description, addresses, phone number and fax number.
• Click submit
• Your details will be checked and published on the SmartCape website within 72 hours.  If this does not happen, you may log a query with info(at)smartcape.org.za
• You can update the information about your business as-and-when you need to.

Who should register?

Anyone working in their own business, and wanting to advertise their services and build up their clientele can register. The Directory is particularly suited to local trades-people, e.g. plumbers, painters, electricians etc.

How do you search the Directory?

Looking for services in and around your area? It's easy, all you have to do is:

• If looking for a service, use the Keyword Search option or Company Name option and all the information will be there for you to use, in the search results.

Remember that you use the Local Business Directory at your own risk.
