Mitchells Plain CBD Upgrade

In the past, residents have had to spend large amounts of their income to shop and enjoy leisure activities in other parts of the City. The building of the new Promenade Retail Centre has recently been completed in Mitchells Plain. Many of the country's top national stores have taken space in the Centre, which means residents will no longer need to visit other areas to do their shopping.   

Also in the Mitchells Plain CBD, informal traders have benefited from new structures that have removable waterproof canopies for protection from the weather. Public benches and improved walkways have made visiting and shopping in the CBD a more pleasant experience.  

The developments in Mitchells Plain also include a new bus terminus, taxi rank facilities, public space improvements, landscaping, new road infrastructure and public buildings. The Mitchells Plain Public Transport Interchange benefits the lives of thousands of commuters by making traveling safer, more comfortable and more efficient.

The Lentegeur Hospital has also been upgraded, as well as the transport facilities to and around this hospital. Mandalay and Lentegeur stations have also been significantly upgraded, including special pedestrian routes with wide pavements and dropped kerbs for patients for special needs. CCTV cameras have been installed for safety.
